March RG – Coates, Tarlton

Thursday 23rd March
Ramblers Group

Coates – Tarlton

led by Mary Saunders (see a copy of the poster here)

A fairly comfortable ramble both in distance and terrain. We will go over the railway to Coates Church and meander through the woodland eventually picking up the path towards Tarlton and back down the slope to the pub.
Lunch after at The Tunnel House, menu choices to be made at the pub before setting off. (There is a website for a preview but menus were not up-to-date).

After a wet start to the morning, we were lucky that the rain had stopped and the sun came out during the morning.  We walked 4.5 miles from Tunnel House, near Coates, across fields and along muddy woodland paths eventually picking up part of the Macmillan Way until we reached the village of Tarlton.  We had a look inside the tiny little church there, before returning across the fields to the pub which provided some excellent food.

Malvern Theatre, 2.30pm
(Depart from Nailsworth at 12.30pm)

£38 – Book and pay by 26th January 2017

Winner of the 2016 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, Jessica Swale’s blissfully funny Nell Gywnn embarks on its first ever UK tour, direct from critically acclaimed, sell out runs in the West End and at the Globe Theatre.

1660 Drury Lane. Charles II has cast off London’s drab, puritanical past with a love of all things loud, French and sexy. A young Nell Gwynn is selling oranges for sixpence in London’s burgeoning West End theatre scene. Little does she know who is in the audience one fateful night.

Jessica Swale’s warm hearted, bawdy comedy tells the story of an unlikely heroine, who went from lowly orange seller to win the adoration of the public and the heart of the King. Starring Oliver Award nominated actress Laura Pitt Pulford, Nell Gwynn is brought to the stage by English Touring Theatre.

March RG – Randwick, Haresfield, Oxlynch

Thursday 24th March

Randwick – Haresfield Beacon – Oxlynch – led by Caroline Crook and Elspeth Williams (view poster here)

Our ramble started from The Vine Tree at Randwick, from where we walked for 4 miles, up through woodland paths, along the Cotswold Way in the direction of Haresfield Beacon.  The route took us down through fields to Oxlynch, through a farmyard before a steep climb across fields and back to the woods which eventually led us back to Randwick.  Although dry at first, a steady drizzle set in but the heavy rain waited until we were safely inside the pub having lunch.
